Name: Reinette Poisson
Door: Door pass (Submissive)

Canon: Doctor Who
Canon Point: 2x04 "The Girl in the Fireplace"

Age: Late 20s
Appearance: A woman of medium height with blonde hair and blue eyes. She's curvy and exceptionally pretty, though her age is beginning to show as the court has started to wear on her. She is always dressed in opulent gowns, wide with panniers under her skirts. In her movements, she is graceful and soft, trained from an earlier age to dance and be soft, so as to entice men.

History: Doctor Who Wiki, Historical Figure Wiki
Personality: Ambition has been the motivation behind much of Reinette's life. As a young girl, a fortune teller had predicted that she would win the heart of the King. Her mother, seeing an opportunity for a more comfortable life, coached and instructed Reinette as a young girl, shaping her and preparing her for a life as the King's mistress. She accepted the dream that her mother had nurtured so long, accepting it as her own and viewing it as her means of helping and providing for her family. This is even shown in Doctor Who, as becoming the King's mistress is shown to be her focus. While the Doctor observes her, Reinette discusses the recent death of the king's former mistress with a friend, pleased with the opportunity before her and the chance to chase what she wants. We are later shown her meeting privately with the king, circling him and clearly seducing him.

She's a studious woman, interested in a vast array of subjects, including botany, the arts, politics, literature, hunting, etc. She's innovative and eager to share whatever new information or ideas she has come across. For example, Reinette created a hot house at Versailles, able to provide the King with strawberries whenever he wished. She also helped plant the first oranges at Versailles, which are now a vast grove. She built a number of different palaces (both she and her brother were fascinated with the subject of architecture, often working together), some of which houses current French officials. Reinette also encouraged the King to sponser the Sèvres porcelain, which is still in existence. The Doctor lists off her accomplishments when he realizes who she is, listing a number of the hobbies listed above, including her gardening. It's clear from his expression and the way he speaks about her, he views her as an intellectual equal.

Reinette is a politician, matching the ingenuity and abilities of the men at court, often working as Louis' adviser and unofficial prime minister. While she did not actively plan or dictate the military strategies of the Seven Years' War, she did counsel the King and helped fund the troops by turning her jewels into the treasury. After the war's failure, she was blamed by the populace for the disastrous treaty that France was forced to concede to.

She is brave and accepting. When confronted with the knowledge of other worlds, time travelers, and other life forms, she is surprised but never lets that influence her opinion of Rose, Mickey and the Doctor. She shows surprise, but moves forward, accepting everything they present her with, including the monsters that chase her through time and the ways to combat them. She shows a great deal of bravery in dealing with the Clockwork Droids, facing them when there is no guarantee that the Doctor will come save her, placing her faith in him. She challenges the creatures, even when they have blades at her throat, not backing down against them.

There is a sadness in Reintte that she masks always. In acting as the King's mistress, she is all too aware of Louis' detest for illness or depression. He prefers to be entertained and amused, never brought down by the hardships of court. Reinette, wishing to keep his love and affection, hides any evidence of her pain. When her daughter and father both died shortly after each other, Reinette joined the King for supper in full view of the court, smiling and laughing as though nothing was wrong. When alone, however, she confessed her reason for living was gone.

This extends as well to her feelings for the Doctor. While he has shown that he cares about her, their time together is limited and sporadic. He shows up rarely, appearing at random points in her life, sometimes after years. She understands that she can't keep him and he can never be with him, having seen his his mind and memories. But, as she tells Rose, "One may tolerate a world of demons for the sake of an angel." Though he tells her that he will take her to see the stars, she prepares for his late return, writing a letter when she is dying. She keeps faith, but understands she will never see him again.

Reinette is aware of her own faults and continually tries to mend them, even sometimes at the risk of her own health. Realizing that she is not as sexual as the King wishes, Reinette tried to put herself on a diet that would increase her libido. Eventually, this made her so ill that a friend had to insist that she cease her activities or would die. She is a focused woman on what she desires, doing whatever it takes to accomplish her goals. She will devote herself completely to a task or skill until it is mastered and perfected. She is a large perfectionist and does not accept second best.

She is a tender woman and any negative comments towards her, any dislike and hate cut her very deeply. Despite the good she tried to do for France, she was despised by the court for being middle class (or Bourgeois) and the people of France for being the King's mistress. She was ridiculed, threatened with death by the courtiers, and attacked by a mob in Paris. It made the genuine love affair she had with the King tainted and affected her gentle heart. She carried that sadness with her until the end of her life, this being part of the reason that she gave up and succumbed to her illness (the other being the loss of her daughter.)

Reinette fears being alone and rejected most of all. The King had a wandering eye and could not be satisfied by Reinette sexually. At Versailles, any weakness was seized upon by other factions. Women vied for the prestigious position of royal mistress (as it came with notoriety and financial gains). There was always a rival to take their place or even to seek to remove her completely. There were even a few close calls that nearly saw Reinette banished from court and the King's love. For the rest of her life, her single focus was keeping the King devoted to her as a friend and less of a lover, relying on habit and comfort to keep him coming to her side. Because of this, Reinette is deeply afraid of being rejected and left alone. She genuinely loved the King, but did not have his complete love. It resonated within her and struck on a very tender nerve. It added to the sadness that always seemed to dwell deep in her eyes.

The one constant dream and love she has had for all of her life is the Doctor. When she was a little girl, he had rescued her from what she assumed was her nightmares (when in reality they were Clockwork Droids seeking to remove her completed brain to power their ship.) Since that day, she viewed the Doctor as her outside dream, separate from the goal of becoming the King's mistress. He would be something that she could carry with her and dream of when life became too difficult or upsetting. When he came back into her life, she surrendered any idea of ambition, wanting to follow the man she loves. Despite her hope, she is well aware that reality has different intentions for her. When stepping between the 18th century and the 51st century space ship, Reinette recognized that she would not be able to remain with the Doctor. She knew that she did not belong in his world, his was a place that she would never understand.

Reinette possesses a strong will

Powers and Abilities: She is a skilled singer, dancer and actress. She is accomplished in several languages, the art of conversation, design and gardening as well as seduction. She shows a level of ability with telepathy, though it's unclear how much is her own and how much is extended to the Doctor. When he steps in her mind to scan her memories, she is able to step into his easily, seeing his past and his name.
Inventory: Her rosary, a bracelet gifted to her by the King and a clock from her mantle.

Me: Oh, such a lonely childhood.
Doctor: It'll pass. Stay with me.
Me: Oh, Doctor. So lonely. So very, very alone.
Doctor: What do you mean, alone? You've never been alone in your life. When did you start calling me Doctor?
Me: Such a lonely little boy. Lonely then and lonelier now. How can you bear it?
